Un guerrier armé d'un pied de céleri ?! Le céleri représente ici un défenseur du chou contre ses prédateurs naturels que sont les insectes et surtout leurs larves. La tomate est également un allier naturel. Dans le jardin, ce sont des "compagnons" du chou. C'est pourquoi ils ont été placés de part et d'autre du chou. Les septs autres « guerriers », tels des samouraïs, sont des répulsifs qui, par leurs essences, repoussent les insectes et autres prédateurs : capucine, bourrache, hysope, cosmos, romarin, thym et menthe sont ses meilleurs défenseurs. 

Cette liste à été réalisées sur la base d'une trentaine de sites consacrés au jardinage.

"Chou sauvage, ou chou des falaises (Brassica oleracea), ancêtre de toutes les variétés cultivées. Encore présent en Europe, et en France (mais rare ou en forte régression en Basse-Normandie, Nord-Pas-de-Calais et Poitou-Charentes où il ne subsiste qu'à l'état d'individus isolés ou en petites populations très localisées et menacées.
